Rheolau Cystadlaethau - Competition Rules

  1. Print entries must bear the title of the competition, the title of the image and entrant's membership number on the back of the mount.
Digital Projected Images should be entered on a CD or Memory Stick with the entrant's Name, Membership Number and  competition title written on it. Images must be in JPEG format not exceeding 1400 pixels wide for landscape format or 1050 pixels high for portrait format and with a resolution of more than 72 dpi (dots per inch). The file name should comprise only the title of the image (and the letter R for Reserve if appropriate - see Rule 3).
Information on resizing images can be found HERE
  2. All entries are to be handed to the Competition Secretary by the specified hand-in dates.  From that point the Competition Secretary is responsible for all entries. Members must only reclaim their entries from the Competition Secretary.
  3. For each Competition, a member may enter up to four prints and up to three digitally projected images.  If a member opts to enter three digitally projected images then one image must be clearly marked as a reserve by the inclusion of “R” in the images’s title.
  4. All entries must be the result of original images created by the member.
  5. Digitally manipulated and produced images  as recognised by the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) are acceptable.
  6. Each print must have one side of at least 7½” (19 cm) long excluding the mount which should not exceed 50×40 cm.
  7. Any image which is not placed or given a commendation by the judge may be resubmitted for another competition provided the subject matter matches the competition title.  Placed or commended images cannot be entered into any other club competition and must not be altered for the Print & DPI Of The Year competition.
  8. Copies of images that have been placed  either 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Highly Commended or Commended will be published to the Caernarfon Camera Club Website. The authors of placed prints should e-mail the Competition Secretary with a digital .jpeg version of the image in a suitable size  (1400 / 1050 pixels and greater than 72 DPI - see Rule 1) by the Friday following the judging. If sending the files by e-mail is not possible, entrants should bring digital copies of their files either on a CD or on a memory stick along with them on the night of the judging. If the image is placed, the Competition Secretary will make a copy the image at the end of the  judging for inclusion on the website.  Any authors who do not want their images published to the Club’s website should inform the Competition Secretary that this is the case on the night of the competition.
  9. Inter-club Battles: An unrestricted number of entries may be handed to the Competition Secretary in accordance with rules 1. and 6 above.
A selection committee will be formed for each Battle and will be responsible for selecting the entries that will go on to represent the Club in the Battle.  The selection committee will  consist of at least three Club members.
